ready_to_voteThe Library has prepared an online resource guide http://www.okanaganvotes.ca with information about how to vote, a list of candidates, issues for consideration, and campaign trends. Leading up to the election, campus Libraries will also have election information displays with books, articles, and other resources available. Find out where you stand and how you fit into Canada’s political landscape using some of the highlighted tools, such as Vote Compass.

dialog-cancel-7The guide also answers the question, “how do I vote?” As a first time voter or as a student, you may need to learn how to register, where to find a polling station, or the ID that is required. The website will give you all the information you need, as well as a FAQ section for answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.

calendar (1)On October 19 Canadians voted in the General Federal Election to give voice to the future of Okanagan Votesour country’s leadership. In the last election 23,971,740 Canadians were eligible to vote. Of this number, only 14,720,580 (61.4%) voted, making it the 4th lowest turnout since confederation. To encourage voter turnout and share information, the OC Students’ Union in collaboration with several Okanagan College departments, prepared resources and organized events, encouraging people to vote and learn more about the electoral process.
