Wear an ugly sweater Feb. 6 & take action against climate change

Sunday, January 26, 2014

February 6th is “National Wear a Sweater Day”. Okanagan College is embracing National Sweater Day once again by encouraging staff and student to voluntarily participate in taking action against climate change by putting on sweaters and turning down thermostats.OC Staff and their ugly sweater

The event was created by the World Wildlife Foundation and is celebrated all across Canada. Show your support by wearing the brightest, ugliest, wackiest, or most tasteful sweater you own!

This event is voluntary and if you and your co-workers would like to participate, visit OC’s energy management web page, or contact Energy Manager Rob St.Onge for some promotional material to help convince your co-workers to participate.

New “library” feature in Google Scholar

Monday, January 13, 2014

New1Google Scholar can be a great tool to find Okanagan College Library resources. You can set-up direct links in Google Scholar that provide access to OC library subscriptions. Add OC as a “library link” in your Google settings to find direct links to full-text articles and the Library’s licensed resources. This FAQ contains all the information you need to set up Google Scholar Library, or to add access to Okanagan College resources from within your search results.

New!The new Scholar library feature allows you to create and save collections of articles within Google Scholar. Login to your Google account and click the “Save” link, located below a search result to save it to your library. Click “My library” to see all articles in your library and search their full text. Use labels to organize your articles, “My Citations” and “Cited by me” are two default labels. If you have a Scholar profile, “My Citations” will contain your profile articles and “Cited by me” will contain articles you have cited. To get started click here and follow the instructions.
