Library Policies Reminder

With a new academic year upon us, it’s time to refresh our memories when it comes to the Library’s policies. Library staff are not trying to make studying any harder than it already is, we just want to ensure everyone is following the same rules.

Food and open drinks are not permitted in the Library, BUT we can’t have you starving! That is why we have tried our best to ensure there are numerous comfortable and sheltered venues for eating and socializing that are close by. Just a few places where you could have a snack include the breezeways,  cafeterias, the atrium in the Centre for Learning, in a courtyard, and many others places on campus. Drinks are permitted as long as they are in spill-proof containers.

Please be respectful of other library users and respect the noise levels in your area. We love to see students getting excited about research, but your neighbour may not feel the same way. If you are in a silent study area or on a quiet floor of the Library, please be courteous of those around you and respect the posted noise levels.

Do not leave your belongings unattended. The Library is not responsible for the security or care of our users’ personal belongings. Please make sure you keep an eye on your things, including laptops, back packs, USB drives, textbooks, binders, kitchen sinks, and anything else you may decide to bring with you for the day.

If you feel there is a policy or procedure that should be created or an existing policy that requires an update, do not hesitate to let us know. For a list of all of OC’s Library policies, please visit the Library Policy Page on the Library’s website.
